About the Company
Established in 1925 after a reorganization of the Maxwell Motor Company, Chrysler owes its success to its founder, for whom the company was named after, Walter Chrysler. He was brought in to help a beleaguered Maxwell Chalmers Company in the early 1920’s, and was teamed up with former Studebaker engineers Fred Zeder, Carl Breer, and Owen Skelton.
Together, the four of them designed a revolutionary new car that exemplifies the characteristics of what they thought a Chrysler car should be, after which an affordable luxury style vehicle that features innovative, world class was engineering. Thus, the Chrysler Six was born.
The Chrysler Six was a car that was clearly ahead of its time. It had features that no other car at the time had, such as factory standard four wheel hydraulic brakes and a light but powerful high compression six cylinder engine. It also had replaceable oil and air filters, tubular front axles, shock absorbers, and aluminum pistons.
Throughout the 1930’s, Chrysler began expanding its reach by developing different vehicle brands. Some of the early brands that the company carried include Plymouth, DeSoto, Imperial, and Dodge, which was acquired from the Dodge Brothers Automobile and Truck Company in 1928.
During the 1950’s, Chrysler became part of several major breakthroughs in the automotive industry. These included the invention of the first transistor car radio, and the first production EFI, or electronic fuel injection system.
In 1960, the company introduced the Valiant brand as a replacement for DeSoto. The Imperial brand also saw new body styles and was equipped with V8 engines and automatic transmissions. After years of competing with rivals Lincoln and Cadillac, Imperial was brought back into the Chrysler fold in 1973.
After successfully collaborating with AMC on the Chrysler M platform rear drive car and the Dodge Omni front wheel drive car, the company acquired 47% ownership of AMC in 1987. About ten years later, the company merged with German car manufacturer Daimler-Benz AG, resulting in the formation of DaimlerChrysler AG.
The merged companies experienced a number of high points and low points in the years that followed, until DaimlerChrysler AG was acquired in part by private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management in 2007. The economic collapse of 2008 led to another major revamp, wherein the company’s brands focused on their own identity.
In 2011, Italian automaker Fiat began buying shares of the company. The acquisition was completed three years later, and both Fiat and Chrysler were reorganized to form a new holding company, which was called Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Today, Chrysler continues to provide top quality vehicles to customers from all over the world. The company currently operates 30 manufacturing plants in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and Venezuela. It also provides career opportunities to more than 70,000 workers, giving it a reputation of being one of the country’s top employers.

If you come late, or fail to show up at all, your chances of getting hired for the position that you applied for is significantly reduced.
Some of the questions that you might get asked during the interview are as follows:
- “What is it about Chrysler that makes you want to work here?”
- “How are you at working under pressure?”
- “Do you have any sales experience?”
If you make it past the interview, you could be on your way to a promising career with Chrysler.
