About the Company
Claim Jumper has gone through quite the resurgence. Opened on the 27th of September in 1977 in Los Alamitos, California by Los Angeles-born restaurateur Craig Nickoloff, the first restaurant had an extensive menu and an atmosphere that was inspired by the California Gold Rush of 1849.
Soon after the first restaurant opened, more locations opened all around Orange County. In no time, Claim Jumper became a thriving restaurant business that served homemade comfort style foods with full service bars and a cozy, relaxing ambiance.
In 2005, the company was sold in a landmark deal to the Leonard Green Company, which was based in Santa Monica, California. The company enjoyed relative commercial success over the next several years, until September of 2010, when it filed for bankruptcy and was on the brink of being auctioned off.
Fortunately, the company was purchased by Houston-based Landry’s Inc. Solely owned and managed by president and CEO Tilman Fertitta, Landry’s Inc. acquired Claim Jumper with a bid close to $77 million. The company headquarters was moved from Irvine, California, to Houston, Texas.
Today, parent company Landry’s Inc. operates more than 40 Claim Jumper restaurants throughout Arizona, California, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington. Plans to further expand the company and open restaurants in new locations are already underway.
Claim Jumper restaurants are popular for being an excellent dining location where people gather to share a delicious meal with family and friends. The restaurant’s friendly environment makes it ideal for celebrating special occasions such as birthdays or wedding anniversaries.
The menu offers a wide range of freshly prepared dishes, such as baby back ribs, choice steaks specialty salads, fresh fish, and oven-baked pot pies. Some of the more popular items on the Claim Jumper menu are their Roasted Tri Tip, their Atlantic Salmon, and their Apple Crumb Cobbler.
