Ironically, the company dubbed as “America’s Most Convenient Bank” is actually a subsidiary of Canadian multinational banking and financial services corporation Toronto-Dominion Bank. The company known today as TD Bank was founded in Portland, Maine in 1852 as the Portland Savings Bank.
Not long after the new millenium, the Portland Savings Bank became the Banknorth Group Inc. of Portland, Maine after a series of mergers and acquisitions. The company provided banking and insurance services in the New England are of the United States.
